“During the Garlic Festival we distribute double the brochures and information of any other event, and the demographic is incredible. We look forward to coming back every year.”
Bob Warren, California Travel and Tourism Commission
This will be the 35th annual Gilroy Garlic Festival … also known as the “ultimate Summer Food Fair” entertaining more than 100,000 visitors with 50 live concerts, children’s activities, arts & crafts, an international cooking competition and extraordinary cuisine enhanced with over 3 tons of fresh garlic.
The Festival’s month-long advertising campaign throughout Central and Northern California targets adults age 25-44 with families.
In 2012, Festival representatives were radio guests from Denver to Chicago to Boston to London to Perth. The Great Garlic Cook-Off hosted television crews from South Korea and Berlin.
In an effort to better accommodate the attention garnered by the Great Garlic Cook-Off and Garlic Showdown, the Cook-Off Theater has been significantly enlarged and now features two large video monitors.
Located inside Gate 5 on the Ranch side and serving as the primary entrance into the Festival, Garlic Avenue features a limited number of corporate exhibitor displays and provides sponsors exclusivity and valuable product exposure.
In a theater setting adjacent to Gourmet Alley, the renowned pyro chefs host hourly cooking seminars explaining the preparation secrets of their heralded cuisine.
Four prominent Northern California professional chefs will compete in an Iron-Chef style competition on July 31 for a top prize of $5,000.
Great Garlic Cook-Off
The Festival will review more than 800 recipes and invite eight finalists to prepare their entrée for a panel of judges in the Great Garlic Cook-Off, to be held on July 30 before a live audience, the strongest radio signal on the Pacific Rim and a global webcast.
Continuous Live Music
Three stages host continuous live entertainment featuring an eclectic lineup of Northern California’s most popular musicians. The San Francisco Bay Area’s powerhouse Hot Country 95.3 KRTY Radio has hosted national recording artists including Sunny Sweeney and Grammy Award winners Rascal Flatts.
The children’s area is regarded as Northern California’s premier experience for the younger set.
Arts & Crafts
Over 100 artisans displaying an exciting assortment of handcrafted items.
The Garlic Festival is chronicled worldwide. In recent years the Festival has attracted television coverage from Australia, Great Britain, West Germany, South Korea and outlets across the U.S. including throughout California.
