  • Celebrating 40 Years of Family Fun

    Enjoy a vintage 1970s vibe throughout the Festival as we celebrate our 40th year. We're planning to party like it's 1979!

  • Celebrity Chefs on the Challenge Butter Cook-Off Stage

    MasterChef Season 7 Winner Shaun O'Neale will host the Champions for Charity and Garlic Chef Jr. competitions on Friday. On Saturday, Olympic champion and Food Network star Brian Boitano hosts the Great Garlic Cook-Off. And on Sunday, Iron Chef Michael Symon will preside over the Garlic Showdown. Each chef will also perform his own cooking demonstration and answer questions from the audience.

  • All Aboard the Garlic Train!

    This year Caltrain will run the special "Garlic Train" from the San Jose Diridon Station to Gilroy on Saturday, July 28 or Sunday, July 29. A shuttle bus will transport guests to and from the Festival. Train tickets include Festival admission and must be purchased in advance online.

  • NEW Kids' Cooking Competition

    Inspired by popular TV shows like MasterChef Junior and Kids Baking Championship, this year the Festival will have a Garlic Chef Jr. contest on Friday afternoon for young chefs ages 18 & under.

  • KRTY Hot Country Acts

    Live on the Amphitheater Stage on Sunday, July 29, 95.3 KRTY will welcome exciting new country artists Mitchell Tenpenny, Travis Denning, and Cale Dodds.

  • NEW Electric Clove Dance Tent presented by 99.7 NOW!

    On Friday and Saturday, DJs will be spinning tracks in a brand-new electronic dance music venue sponsored by 99.7 NOW! radio.

  • New 2018 Signature Cocktail

    Sample the “Garlic Festival Mule,” made with Absolut Vodka and served in a souvenir copper mug.

  • The Great Garlic Giveaway

    Founder Don Christopher and Christopher Ranch have been part of the Gilroy Garlic Festival for four decades now. To celebrate, they’ll be giving a year’s worth of garlic to four lucky winners…and they’ll also be giving away FREE genuine California-grown garlic bulbs to the first 4,000 Festival guests each morning!

  • NEW Garlic Mascot "Herbie"

    This year Festival visitors will get to meet a an all-new friendly garlic bulb mascot named "Herbie"!

  •  Alexis Higgins Returns to the Challenge Butter Cook-Off Stage

    After being one of the youngest contestants on MasterChef Junior at the age of 8, Gilroy's own Alexis Higgins (now 13) has grown into a "seasoned" young chef and will be showing off her culinary skills in a live cooking demonstration on Sunday at 11 am.

  • Garlic Royalty

    2018 Miss Gilroy Garlic Festival Sloane Pace and her court will greet Festival visitors and be sure everyone is having a garlicky good time!

  • Gourmet Alley

    The heart of the Gilroy Garlic Festival is the world-famous Gourmet Alley. In this gigantic outdoor kitchen, volunteers serve up all the official food of the Garlic Festival, while the “Pyro Chefs” put on a spectacular flame-up show preparing garlic-laced calamari in huge iron skillets.

  • Live Entertainment

    Festival visitors enjoy the sounds of live rock ‘n roll, country, jazz, blues, reggae, swing, and more on three entertainment stages. Local acts are featured on Friday. Highlights on the Amphitheater Stage include “Spicy Soul Saturday” and “Hot Country Sunday,” when 95.3 KRTY welcomes new country artists Mitchell
    Tenpenny, Travis Denning, and Cale Dodds.

  • Cooking Contests

    On Friday, first responders battle in the Champions for Charity event, while aspiring young chefs battle in the first-ever Garlic Chef Jr. competition. Both events will be emceed by Shaun O’Neale. On Saturday, Brian Boitano hosts the 40th annual Great Garlic Cook-Off. Professional chefs take the stage on Sunday for the Garlic Showdown, hosted by Iron Chef Michael Symon. And BBQ pros and amateurs compete in the Gilroy Garli-Que BBQ Challenge on Saturday and Sunday.

  • Arts & Crafts Vendors

    The Arts & Crafts areas showcase a colorful variety of unique, high-quality handmade creations from over 100 talented artists, including jewelry, ceramics, paintings, photographs, sculptures, and more…including garlic bulb hats and henna tattoos!

  • Fun for the Whole Family

    Kids of all ages enjoy lots of fun rides, games, and hands-on activities—as well as live shows and kid-friendly food—in the Children’s Area. Near the Cook-Off Stage, you can make your own garlic braid (for a fun, free souvenir) and watch garlic topping demonstrations presented by Christopher Ranch.


  • Each year, Gilroy Garlic Festival visitors consume more than 2 tons of fresh garlic from Gilroy’s own Christopher Ranch and 2.5 tons of Challenge butter
  • Average annual attendance: nearly 100,000

  • Over 4,000 volunteers work each year on behalf of over 140 non-profit groups in Gilroy and surrounding communities
