Gilroy Garlic Festival Recognized by Gilroy Unified School District

October 17, 2018 (Gilroy, CA): On September 20, 2018, the Gilroy Unified School District recognized the Gilroy Garlic Festival and presented the Board of Directors with a plaque thanking Festival organizers for their “tireless commitment, philanthropic vision, community leadership and unwavering support” of Gilroy schools.

Since the Gilroy Garlic Festival was founded in 1979, net proceeds from the event have been distributed to local schools and other non-profit groups based on the number of hours logged at the Festival by over 4,000 volunteers representing those organizations. Every year, several schools in the Gilroy Unified School District field teams of Festival volunteers, including elementary schools, middle schools, and several sports teams and student groups from Gilroy High School and Christopher High School.

Todd Trekell, President of the 2018 Gilroy Garlic Festival, “We are proud to partner with students and staff from Gilroy schools every year to help raise money for schools in our community. The enthusiasm and energy of our volunteers are a huge reason for the Gilroy Garlic Festival’s lasting success.”
