2019 Gilroy Garlic Festival Celebrates 15 Years of Hot Country with KRTY 95.3

June 11, 2019 (Gilroy, CA): The 2019 Gilroy Garlic Festival will mark a special 15-year anniversary of partnering with radio station KRTY 95.3 to host live performances by up-and-coming country music stars. This year, the Festival and KRTY welcome King Calaway, Waterloo Revival, and Caylee Hammack to the Amphitheater Stage on “Hot Country Sunday,” July 28.

Since 2005, the Gilroy Garlic Festival and KRTY have teamed up to introduce singers and bands that are just launching their careers in country music. Many of those once-unknown performers have since gone on to national and international fame, including the platinum-selling band Rascal Flatts and stars like Kip Moore, Michael Ray, Dustin Lynch, Jon Pardi, Brothers Osborne, and Mitchell Tenpenny, among many others.

Nate Deaton, General Manager at KRTY, stated, “KRTY is very excited once again about the lineup at this year’s Gilroy Garlic Festival. We take great pride in identifying future stars and great performers each year to showcase. All three of this year’s acts are different—and they all have very bright futures.”

This year’s “Hot Country Sunday” lineup includes King Calaway, a multi-national supergroup of six harmony-singing instrumentalists hailing from three different countries on both sides of the Atlantic. Before coming together in 2018, bandmates Caleb Miller, Chris Deaton, Simon Dumas, Jordan Harvey, Chad Michael Jervis, and Austin Luther all pursued their own solo careers, racking up American Idol golden tickets, CMA Awards performances, international tours, session gigs, and BBC TV appearances along the way. One by one, they all found their way to Nashville, drawn to the city by its rich, diverse music scene. Joined together as King Calaway, they make anthemic country music for the modern world with songs like “World For Two” that mix groove, grit and rootsy stomp in equal doses.

Also performing on Sunday, July 28 is Waterloo Revival, a duo of longtime friends from Austin, Texas. Cody Cooper and George Birge started making music together in middle school and remained close through college. In 2012, they decided to focus all their energy on music and formed Waterloo Revival (inspired by their hometown’s original name of Waterloo). They released an EP in 2013 that was funded by contributions from supportive fans. Continuing that momentum, the band commuted to Nashville to hone their craft and acquaint themselves with Music City. In 2016, Waterloo Revival signed to Toby Keith’s record label, Show Dog Nashville, and joined Keith on tour. They have continued touring and supporting the single, “What Guy Wouldn’t,” which has more than 26 million streams to date. In 2018 they released a three-song EP, “Wonder Woman.”

Rounding out the Hot Country Sunday lineup for 2019 will be Caylee Hammack, who has been paying her country singer/songwriter dues in smoky bars, opry houses, and music festivals around the United States. At 19 years old, she made the move to Nashville and started working for her future full time, writing every morning and singing every night down on Broadway to pay her bills. After 3 years in town and being accepted into the ASCAP’s GPS Program, she landed her first major publishing deal with Universal Music Publishing Group and also won the prestigious ASCAP Sammy Chan Lyricist award, putting her name down in history with other winners of this songwriting award, such as Lori McKenna and John Mayer. Currently co-producing her new project with her team, Caylee has also had songs placed in RAM truck advertisements, movies and shows such as Nashville on CMT Network.

Marah Kuwada, Entertainment Chair for the 2019 Gilroy Garlic Festival, said, “KRTY has been a vital partner to the Gilroy Garlic Festival over the years, and it’s always exciting to put on great shows for our guests while serving as a 'launching pad' for so many talented artists. Fans know that this annual concert is a great chance to catch some of country music’s hottest up-and-coming stars. And this year is no exception!”

All three artists will be performing live at the Gilroy Garlic Festival on Sunday, July 28, 2019. All concerts are included with Festival admission. To purchase discount tickets online, go to gilroygarlicfestival.com.
