WHAT'S NEW IN 2017

  • Food Network Superstar Giada De Laurentiis

    Emmy-award-winning celebrity chef, author, and Food Network superstar Giada De Laurentiis will be appearing at the Festival on Sunday, July 30. Giada will emcee the Garlic Showdown professional chef competition and then prepare one of her own favorite garlic-laced recipes on the Garlic Cook-Off Stage. Christopher Ranch is a longtime supporter of the Gilroy Garlic Festival and Garlic Showdown.

  • MasterChef Season 7 Winner Shaun O'Neale

    Shaun O’Neale, Winner of MasterChef Season 7 on FOX, will be at the Festival on Friday and Saturday, July 28 and 29. O’Neale will emcee the Champions for Charity cooking competition, show off his “flame-up” skills with the Pyro Chefs in Gourmet Alley, serve as judge in the Great Garlic Cook-Off, and perform his own cooking demonstration on the Garlic Cook-Off Stage.

  • Great Gilroy Garlic Eating Contest

    The Gilroy Garlic Festival has already been certified by GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ as the World’s Largest Garlic Festival. And on Friday, officials will be here for the Great Gilroy Garlic Eating Contest to certify if anyone breaks the record for Most garlic cloves eaten in one minute. The current record is 36, achieved by Patrick Bertoletti at Sierra Studios, East Dundee, Illinois, on January 14, 2012.

  • KRTY Hot Country Acts

    Live on the Amphitheater Stage on Sunday, July 30, 95.3 KRTY will welcome exciting new country artists Jacob Davis, Chris Ferrara and Aubrey Road.

  • NEW Gilroy Garlic Shrimp on Gourmet Alley

    For the first time in several years, a brand-new dish will be introduced on Gourmet Alley: the delicious deep-fried Gilroy Garlic Shrimp.

  • New Wine Garden

    The Rotary Club wine tasting area has been relocated to the mulberry grove near Gourmet Alley, where visitors can sample award-winning wines from local vintners in an open-air wine garden.


FESTIVAL HIGHLIGHTS

  • Gourmet Alley

    The heart of the Gilroy Garlic Festival is the world-famous Gourmet Alley. In this gigantic outdoor kitchen, volunteers serve up all the official food of the Garlic Festival, while the “Pyro Chefs” put on a spectacular flame-up show preparing garlic-laced calamari and scampi in huge iron skillets.

  • Live Entertainment

    Festival visitors enjoy the sounds of live rock ‘n roll, country, jazz, blues, reggae, swing, and more on three entertainment stages. On Sunday, KRTY welcomes hot new country artists Jacob Davis, Chris Ferrara and Aubrey Road to the Amphitheater Stage.

  • Cooking Contests & Celebrity Chef Appearances

    On Friday, first responder heroes battle in the Champions for Charity event, emceed by Shaun O’Neale. On Saturday, amateur cooks compete in the Great Garlic Cook-Off. Professional chefs take the stage on Sunday for the iron chef-style Garlic Showdown, hosted by Giada De Laurentiis. And BBQ pros and amateurs will compete in the Gilroy Garlic-Que BBQ Challenge (sanctioned by the Kansas City BBQ Society) on Saturday and Sunday.

  • Arts & Crafts Vendors

    The Arts & Crafts areas showcase a colorful variety of unique, high-quality handmade creations from over 100 talented artists, including jewelry, ceramics, paintings, photographs, sculptures, and more…including garlic bulb hats and henna tattoos!

  • Fun for the Whole Family

    Kids of all ages enjoy lots of fun rides, games, and hands-on activities in the Children’s Area. The Children’s stage features live music, magicians, jugglers, and more. And there’s plenty of kid-friendly food too!
