To kick off this year’s “For the Love of Garlic” theme, the Gilroy Garlic Festival is hosting a Garlic Dream Wedding contest. One winning couple will be selected to get married (or renew their vows) in a garlic-themed ceremony at the Festival on Sunday, July 26, with a total prize package valued at over $5,000.
The Garlic Dream Wedding includes an official ceremony on the Garlic Cook-Off Stage, garlic bouquets and boutonnieres, and professional photography by Love is In the Air Photography, as well as a cake and champagne reception and a first dance at the Amphitheater Stage. Festival tickets for the bride and groom and up to 20 guests will also be included.
The winners will also receive a Central Coast honeymoon package presented by VisitGilroy.com that includes overnight stays in Monterey and at Rosewood Cordevalle Resort, a “Romance Tour” for two at the Monterey Bay Aquarium, a $500 gift basket from Gilroy Premium Outlets, tickets to Gilroy Gardens Family Theme Park, a Santa Clara Valley Wine Country Experience from California Passport Tours, collectible Garlic Festival items, garlic goodies, and more.
“We are so excited about hosting a Garlic Dream Wedding at this year’s Festival,” stated Deanna Franklin, President of the 2015 Gilroy Garlic Festival. “We can’t wait to find that one special couple ready to love, honor, and cherish each other through sickness and health—and garlic breath—for the rest of their lives. This will be a day they’ll never forget!”
Garlic Dream Wedding contest rules and applications are posted at the Garlic Festival website at gilroygarlicfestival.com/wedding. Entries will be accepted from May 18 through June 19, 2015. Couples are encouraged to share their “garlic love stories” through stories, photos, and/or videos that demonstrate their love for garlic—and each other.
A group of semi-finalists will be selected by the Garlic Dream Wedding committee and posted on Facebook and other social media outlets on June 26. Online voting will narrow the field to two finalist couples, and the winners will be selected in a “Newlywed Game” style radio show on the KRTY Morning Show with Gary and Julie. The winning couple will be married in a ceremony on the Garlic Cook-Off Stage on Sunday, July 26 at 4:00pm.
